The National Medical Association Regions III and V proudly convene at Southern University’s Leon Tarver Center for a powerful three-day gathering focused on reimagining healthcare excellence in the American South. Guided by the national theme set forth by NMA President Roger Mitchell, MD—“The New Reconstruction: Mobilizing Healthcare Justice for a New America”—this year’s regional conference centers on transforming the intersection of patients, providers, and policy to create sustainable and equitable health outcomes.
This convening will bring together physicians, healthcare leaders, policymakers, researchers, trainees, and community partners to address the evolving healthcare landscape, the challenges facing Black communities, and the opportunities for structural and systemic change. Through keynote sessions, policy forums, clinical updates, discussions on the HBCU workforce pipeline, community engagement strategies, and collaborative networking, attendees will explore actionable pathways to reduce disparities and advance justice-centered care.

As the host of Southern University, the conference also highlights the critical role of HBCUs in shaping the health workforce, expanding research, and fostering community-based leadership. Together, Regions III and V are committed to rebuilding systems, restoring trust, and mobilizing leadership that can carry our communities into a healthier future.
